Currently under construction, NetZero's full-scale pilot site is located in Nkongsamba, in the Littoral region of Cameroon.
It sits next to Synergie Nord Sud (SNS), Cameroon's largest coffee-processing plant, who's owner is one of NetZero's co-founders. This ideal location gives NetZero a direct access to coffee husks, an abundant waste product of coffee transformation. It also gives NetZero a one-of-a-kind platform to distribute the biochar to small coffee growers that supply SNS.
We have assembled a high-profile local team with complementary expertise to handle operations.
Site inauguration is scheduled for Q4 2021. We will be producing around 2,000 tonnes of biochar per year.
From biomass storage to biochar packaging, we will optimise all steps our our production line. This includes pyrolysis, cogeneration and optional drying of biomass.
We aim for the highest quality for all our products. This is why we will be working with Verra, the world's leading carbon certification body, to issue our carbon credits.
Coffee husks will be our main biomass input but we also want to use other feedstocks, such as palm stems, cocoa husks and shells, rice husks, etc.
Distribution model includes distribution networks, selling price and logistics.
We are working with agronomists to design and implement training programmes for farmers, including promotion campaigns to raise awareness about biochar benefits.
This first site is intended to allow suppliers, distributors, partners and authorities to gain better understanding of our model.
