Our model is based on biochar

Biochar is solid carbon with charcoal powder appearance, extracted from renewable biomass.

We turn agricultural waste into biochar through pyrolysis, a thermochemical process of heating at high temperature in oxygen-deprived conditions.

Biochar is used in agriculture as a one-off, permanent soil amendement, to be mixed with topsoil.

The physiochemical properties of biochar allow to improve soil's quality: its high porosity improves the water-holding capacity of soils; its negatively charged surface allows for better nutrient retention; and its high carbon content helps rebalance acidic soils. Hence better productivity for crops.

Biochar is a mature solution for long-term carbon removal

Biochar is one of only a few long-term sequestration technologies, and the one at highest technology readiness level.

Biochar offers compelling climate, agronomic and environmental benefits, and can contribute significantly to climate change mitigation when deployed at a massive global scale.

The global offset potential of biochar in 2050 is estimated to 0.3–2 GtCO2 per year.

Our model in a nutshell

Measurable carbon capture

We extract carbon from agricultural waste in tropical countries, leveraging the efficiency of photosynthesis with simple-to-operate technology (pyrolysis). All ensuring a net-negative carbon balance of operations.

Long-term carbon removal

When mixed with soil, biochar remains stable for at least hundreds of years, hence providing the only long-term carbon removal model currently scalable.

Rural development

Biochar acts as a one-off, permanent soil amendment that improves crop yields, in particular in developing tropical countries with degraded soils and no access to fertiliser.

Access to sustainable energy

Electricity can be generated as a by-product of biochar production. Additionally, biochar can be turned into charcoal pellets to replace charcoal made from deforestation wood.


By selling products locally (biochar, green electricity, green charcoal) and also selling carbon credits, we deliver high margins and ROE, allowing to attract capital.


Simple and standardised production units allow to replicate and scale rapidly. We have the option to evolve towards a franchising model, to accelerate growth and impact.


Our model rapidly builds ‘moats’ thought certification, R&D, branding, franchising and scale, hence providing long-term competitive advantage.
